With the help of governments at all levels,farmers and herdsmen in Tibet can now continually keep up with the progress of the times and social development through their own efforts.“Convenient facilities and relatively stable incomes are making our life increasingly promising,”enthused Yangjen Lhamo,who lives in Naxingtang Community,Nagqu City,Tibet Autonomous Region.She believes that her children’s life will be better.
A growing number of young Chinese are paying more attention to whether the job they choose can enhance their self-identification and whether the job content truly creates value.CHINA has added 158 new professions to its list of recognized occupations since 2022,and young people have gradually accepted them as part of their career choice options.According to statistics from the Ministry of Education,the estimated number of university graduates across China for the year 2024 is expected to reach 11.79 million.During this graduation season,there is a large number of new professions from which graduates can choose.
As health concerns continue to rise,more and more people are recognising the health benefits of outdoor exercise.Outdoor sports provide an opportunity to get close to nature,which helps to improve physical fitness and prevent disease.On the other hand,the fast pace and high pressure of urban life make people yearn to escape the steel jungle,and outdoor sports have become a way to re ieve stress.
On June 19,the 30th Beijing International Book Fair(BIBF)opened at the National Convention Center.The new book release ceremony for The Epic Story of China:5000 Years of Chinese Civilization in Cultural Relics(hereinafter referred to as The Epic Story of China),hosted by Guangdong Publishing Group,Sino United Publishing(Holdings)Ltd.,Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural and Educational Exchange Center,and the Hong Kong Publishing Federation,and organized by Guangdong Education Publishing House,was held during the fair.
In this work,Digital Twins based on Neural Networks for the steady state production of styrene were generated.Thus,both the Aspen Technology AI Model Builder(alternative 1)and a homemade MS Excel VBA code connected to Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus(alternative 2)were used with this same aim.The raw data used for generating the Digital Twins were obtained from process simulations using Aspen HYSYS and/or Aspen Plus,which were connected through a recycle-like stream via automation for solving the entire simulation flowsheet.Aspen HYSYS was used for solving the pre-heating,reaction,and stabilization sections of the process whereas Aspen Plus ensured the computing of the separation and purification columns.Both alternatives led to an excellent prediction showing the capability of creating Digital Twins from and for process simulation.
Editorial“When something is said to be impossible,there are two points for researchers to initially clarify:whether it really is forbidden by the laws of nature;or whether it is simply that no material that currently exists in nature can do that.”Metamaterials are such magical beings,which have physical properties like invisibility,negative refraction,super-resolution,and perfect absorption that are absent from natural materials.It has been rated by Science as one of the top ten scientific and technological breakthroughs affecting human beings in the 21st century.In this issue of Light People,we spoke with a“magic”creator,Professor Che Ting Chan,the Associate VicePresident(Research&Development)of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(HKUST),Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences and Fellow of the American Physical Society.He has researched a number of theoretical problems in material physics,investigated the theory behind what they seek to achieve,and modulated light(electromagnetism)and acoustic waves through metamaterials.In the following,let’s take a closer look at Professor Che Ting Chan’s research life,and appreciate his style and the background of his accomplishment.
